What does it mean to “Lovify” the world? It means to promote love, kindness, and compassion locally and globally. Pink Shirt Day is an inspiring example on how to Lovify the world. This growing global movement has humble beginnings in a small east coast town in Canada.  The original event was organized by David Shepherd and Travis Price of Berwick, Nova Scotia. In 2007 they bought and distributed 50 pink shirts after a grade ten student, Chuck McNeill was bullied for wearing a pink shirt during the first day of school. These two courageous students did anti-bullying in action and inspired a wave of kindness around the world.

It is incredible how one act of kindness grew into the national Pink Shirt Day in Canada and then morphed into the International Day of Pink. People from around the world are taking a stand against bullying, discrimination, homophobia, transphobia, and transmisogyny. We are celebrating diversity by wearing a pink shirt and by organizing activities in our workplaces, schools and communities. We are demonstrating unity on a global scale by promoting tolerance, inclusiveness, and acceptance. We are witnessing the power of this pink movement, as random acts of kindness have become “cool shares” across our social media channels.

Our world deserves more love, kindness, and compassion every day. In the face of fear, we need to promote love. In response to hatred, we need to choose kindness and in reaction to violence, we need to show compassion. When a horrific act of violence or hatred occurs, we must have hope and faith that our loving actions will make a positive difference. We are in this together and the power of love helps us grow stronger together. We can make the world a better place for all and for future generations.  Pink Shirt Day has shown us the ripple effect from one act of kindness. Imagine the impact of daily acts of kindness by millions of people around the world? Like a pink tsunami, planet earth would be washed, rinsed, and cleansed with love, kindness, and compassion.

Love on,
